Christina Marie Phelps holds a B.F.A. in Studio Arts from Concordia University, Montreal, QC and is currently completing her degree in the Art Education Specialization Program, (June 2016). She has been teaching for over thirteen years, both in schools and in the community and believes strongly in the value of play and collaboration as a tool for artistic expression. Her own practice is concerned with exercises in mixed media and ephemeral street art installations including drawing, painting, paste-ups, collage, silkscreen, assemblage, chalk art, string art, tape art, clay modeling, paper cut-outs, stickers, stencil art and light-based media. Like Christina Marie's contemporaries, she is fascinated by street art’s unbridled process rooted in play and experimentation thus in her work she likes to juxtapose it against the conflicts of western society today. She coins her typical genre/brand of art as: “Poli-Pop” (Political-driven pop art) and “Artful Play.”
